Suits come in single breasted and double breasted. Larger men tend to look better in a single breasted suit.
- Instead of going for a suit with a belt opt for a suit with suspenders.
- Don’t wear pants that have cuffs. Instead opt for pants with pleats.
- Don’t get loud with your dress shirt choices. Opt for solid colors or subtle patterns.
- Consider wearing a vest with your suit because it will help slim your profile.
- Choose medium sized tie knots and stay away from cutaway shirts.
A single breasted suit with notched lapels is much more flattering to a larger silhouette. The ideal jacket will have two or three buttons. To keep things proportionate choose lapels that are between 8 and 10 cm. Opt for no vents on the jacket. Suspenders will give you more room so you can move comfortably and they will keep your pants from falling down.
When it comes time to pick colors for your suit choose navy or charcoal. Opt for a white, or light blue shirt. Keep the tie simple as to not draw attention to your midsection.
